How to Recover the Last Potato in Potato Please

Recover a stuck last potato in Potato Please with Repile, check a stalled quota, and learn how the key potato behaves once the production work is complete.

Updated

01

Use Repile Potatoes for an inaccessible potato

Use Pause → Troubleshooting → Repile Potatoes for an ordinary potato hanging out of reach or left behind after a recount, then check the pile again. If recovery fails, make sure your game includes Hotfix 1.0.2 and use the Troubleshooting report option.

02

Recover a potato stuck in midair

  1. Open the pause menu and enter Troubleshooting. This is where Golden Horn Studios directs players dealing with an inaccessible last potato.
  2. Select Repile Potatoes to attempt recovery. The function returns displaced potatoes to the pile.
  3. Inspect the pile after the reset to see where the remaining potatoes are now. Check the result before resuming collection.
  4. Collect any ordinary potatoes made accessible by the reset so they can enter the processing system and contribute toward the unfinished quota.
  5. Wait for Repile to become available before attempting another reset if needed. The developer reduced its cooldown to 60 seconds.

You can still reach Repile through the pause menu even if you no longer see the red hold-R badge. The developer removed that badge while retaining the menu option. Open Troubleshooting directly when you need the recovery function.

03

If a recount leaves potatoes out of reach

Hotfix 1.0.2 changed automatic recounts to begin when you buy the crane, running every 6 minutes or every 2.5 minutes with autopilot. The loudspeaker announces every other recount. Check the pile itself as well as listening for announcements when judging whether anything has moved.

A Steam player reported potatoes appearing at the pile's original height as the crane moved through it after a repile. That report describes a collection problem you can compare with your own save. If the remaining potato is still inaccessible, use the manual Repile option and report the problem if recovery fails.

04

Check the production line if the quota is still short

If the quota remains unfinished, check where the remaining stock has stopped. Potatoes may still be waiting in sacks, inside the processing line, or around the work area. A clear-looking outdoor pile does not establish that all the potatoes have been delivered.

  • Check the output lane and chute for a blockage if machines are working but the quota counter has stopped.
  • Inspect machine hoppers and waiting sacks for potatoes that have not finished moving through production.
  • Look around the yard and work area for loose potatoes that never reached the machines. The Potato Vacuum can help collect loose potatoes.
  • Check the room's perimeter and corners for displaced potatoes before assuming the remaining stock has vanished.

After loading a save with the developer's saving fixes, potatoes held in a bucket or wheelbarrow return to the pile. Machine hoppers keep their potatoes, and the vacuum tank keeps its contents too. Check the corresponding location if the last stock was being carried or processed when you saved.

Spoilers: Identify the key potato after the quota

Check the active objective to distinguish an unfinished production task from the special potato needed afterward. Once the quota reaches 60,000 / 60,000, the objective moves toward finding the potato containing the key. That potato arrives by parachute in the outdoor yard and leads to the Iron Door.

Objective stateWhat to do
The production quota is still incomplete.Recover and deliver the remaining ordinary potatoes. Check Repile and the production line.
The quota is complete and the objective asks for the key.Find the special delivery in the yard and collect the key potato yourself.

Hotfix 1.0.2 makes the key potato stay in place until you pick it up, preventing the puppy or vacuum from carrying it away. The developer also changed the supply drop to land on the ground or snow instead of getting caught on the crane. For this objective, approach and collect the special potato yourself.

  1. Pick up the parachute-delivered potato in the outdoor yard to begin the key objective.
  2. Peel the special potato to reveal the Golden Key.
  3. Collect the Golden Key so you can follow the objective toward the Iron Door.
06

If the potato remains inaccessible

An earlier player workaround for a delivery caught above the crane was to reload a save from before the drop and move the crane before the plane arrived. Treat that as a player-reported workaround for that specific situation. The developer's supply-drop fix should be your first check if you encounter the same behavior.

If Repile still fails, use the report option on the Troubleshooting page. Golden Horn Studios has also asked affected players for the game's diagnostic folder when recovery does not work. Describe whether the quota is unfinished or the key objective is active, where the potato is suspended, and what happened after Repile.
