Get the Flamethrower through the recovery objective
Follow the storm-recovery objective to requisition the Flamethrower, then use it on the frozen outdoor potatoes until the game confirms the thawing task is complete. If progress stalls, check the top and sides of the pile and read the Journal before returning to normal processing.
Work through the storm recovery
- Wait indoors until the storm passes and the recovery instructions appear. The game tells you to stay inside during the storm; the new objective directs you into the thawing task.
- Requisition the Flamethrower when the recovery objective makes it available. This gives you the tool used to thaw the frozen pile.
- Go to the frozen outdoor potato pile. The recovery objective concerns the frozen potatoes in the yard.
- Use the Flamethrower on the frozen potatoes to thaw them. Work across the visibly frozen sections instead of judging completion only by the snow you have melted.
- Check the Journal for the completed thawing objective. Its progress tells you whether to keep checking the yard or return to the normal production task.
If the objective still shows frozen potatoes
A pass around the yard does not establish that the thawing objective is finished. Check for visibly frozen sections and whether the Journal has advanced. Melting an obvious patch of snow is not enough to judge the state of the potatoes themselves.
A player replying to the thawing discussion suggested checking the potatoes on top of the pile as well as those around it. Use that as a coverage check if you have mainly worked around the base. It is a player suggestion to try, rather than a promise that visiting a particular spot will finish the task.
- Inspect the top of the pile for frozen potatoes you may have missed while working around its base.
- Check around every side of the pile, applying the Flamethrower where potatoes remain visibly frozen.
- Read the Journal again after covering a missed section, so you can see whether the thawing task has advanced.
Judge the result in your own save instead of trying to match another player's estimate of how much ice should remain. Look for a change in the objective as you work. If the task stays active despite your checks, move on to the loading and troubleshooting checks below.
Check unusual storm behavior after loading
Golden Horn Studios fixed premature storm chill and free Flamethrower availability in Hotfix 1.0.2. The affected situations included starting a new game and loading a save from before the storm. If the cold or Flamethrower appears at the wrong stage, make sure that update is installed before trying the recovery objective again.
The developer also fixed finished saves bringing the snowstorm back after loading. A cleared yard should stay clear when that save is loaded. If you already completed the shift and the storm returns, describe that loading behavior when reporting the problem.
Use the report option on the in-game Troubleshooting page if the thawing objective remains stuck. Include what the Journal currently says, whether you can still see frozen potatoes, and whether the problem began after loading. Those details help describe the point where your recovery task stopped advancing.
